Why is it that my Windows 7 Home Basic 64-bit operating system is utilizing 2 to 3GB of RAM memory instead of 4GB?
One of the main reason for this is that you’ve checked the ‘Maximum
memory’ check box and forgot about it or someone could have set it for
you when you first bought the computer, therefore an increased in 2GB of
memory has no effect on the system.
- Step 1 – Type ‘msconfig’ into the search box
- Step 2 – Select the ‘boot’ tab
- Step 3 – Click on the ‘Advanced options…’ button
- Step 4 – Uncheck the ‘Maximum memory’ check box
