Remove Or Delete Windows 7 Service Pack 1 Backup Files

How to save an additional 1GB of hard disk space? Simply, just remove or delete the backup files for Windows 7 SP1. If you’ve just performed the installation of Windows 7 Service Pack 1, you’ll notice that it took up about 4 to 5 GB of hard disk space, 1GB for the installation files, another GB for backing up your system, another GB for the newly installed files and etc.
If you’re running a netbook will a very limited hard disk space, every GB counts. To reclaim these ‘lost’ space:
  • Step 1 – Right click on your C drive
  • Step 2 – Select ‘Properties’
  • Step 3 – Under the General tab, click on the ‘Disk Cleanup’ button
Should You Delete the Service Pack Backup Files?
The answer is – not now. Wait for a month or two, until you’re certain that service pack 1 is not giving you any problems. If you perform the cleanup process to delete the backup files, you won’t be able to uninstall the service pack if you need to.
